GREENERBUILDER TOUR: MUELLER NEIGHBORHOOD - A NEW URBAN VILLAGE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 2019Mueller Neighborhood 4550 Mueller Blvd., Austin, TX 787233:30 - 5:30 PM
About the Event
As Austin prepared for its municipal airport to officially close in 1999, the citizens considered how the 700+ acres could best be redeveloped. A plan calling for “low-density development on the edge with high density in the center” resulted in one of the nation’s most significant new urbanist and sustainable communities - including notable individual LEED certified buildings within the community such as the world’s first LEED-Platinum hospital.
The Mueller community itself is the world’s largest and Texas’ first LEED-ND, Stage 3 Gold neighborhood. The Mueller Master Plan includes a mix of residential, commercial and retail developments, along with designated parks and green space to create a district that is a model for responsible urban development. Community and industry leaders involved with the redevelopment effort will offer a general overview and particulars of several LEED certified buildings.
